Ultra Secure Singlemode A/B Switch

For ultra-secure, critical-circuit switching in single-mode networks.

  • No optical-to-electrical conversion between fibre connections, internal mirror to optically move data between ports.
  • Connect a single workstation to two or more networks or remote devices.
  • Simple to use. To route signals, just turn a knob on the front panel.
  • Reliable switching in mission-critical environments, the micro-mirror is bonded to precise positioning servers.
  • Available as Latching and Non-Latching models.
  • Operates transparently to signal rates, formats, and wavelengths, and doesn't require an upgrade when your data protocols change or speeds increase.
  • Warranty: 1 Year Double Diamond™ Warranty (Standard)

There’s a reason why this type of manual switch continues to be the switch of choice for networking professionals everywhere: This tried-and-true optical switch performs as promised year after year.

The Ultra Secure Singlemode A/B Switches are reliable because it uses a micro-mirror instead of electronics to route data signals from one fibre optic port to the next. And unlike conventional electronic switches, there are no complex and vulnerable electronic circuits to monitor and protect from intrusion, component failure, or interference.

Latching Technology
The latching Fibre Optic Switches are a full-duplex, optical switch. The A/B switch for example can be used to connect one workstation to two different networks (one at a time) or to other remote devices. A front panel rotary style knob allows the user to select which of two ports (A or B) is connected to the COMMON © port on the switch. The switch operates using a unique all-optical micro-mirror movement. When you turn the rotary knob on the front of the switch to select a network, the internal micro-mirror movement redirects the optical beam from one network port to another network port by rotating a miniature mirror. This technique eliminates the need to convert optical signals to electronic signals to for switching and it is therefore transparent to data rates and protocols.

Applications
These switches are perfectly suited for applications where a selected connection must be maintained in the event of a power failure. You should use a non-latching fibre optic switch like Model #SW1000A for applications requiring a switch that falls back to pre-determined connection during the loss of AC power. These switches use power only for switching the selected connection. No power is required to pass data through the switches.
